1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use WordBank, we may collect:

• Email address and username
• Profile picture and optional profile information
• Authentication information, including information provided through Google Sign-In
• Words studied and banked, and word lists you upload
• Quiz attempts, scores, accuracy and progress
• Practice Room membership, goals, chat messages and leaderboard results
• Information required to maintain account security and the service

We do not store your password in plain text.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to:

• Create and manage your account
• Authenticate you and provide password recovery
• Provide quizzes, word-study features and statistics
• Operate Practice Rooms, goals and leaderboards
• Send necessary service emails, including password resets and goal reminders
• Maintain, secure and improve WordBank
• Prevent abuse, fraud and unauthorized access

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Information visible to other users

Depending on the feature and your settings, other users may see information such as your username, profile picture, achievements, Practice Room membership, room chat messages, room-specific scores and leaderboard position.

Your email address, password and private account information are not displayed to other users.

4. Third-party services

WordBank may use third-party providers such as Google for authentication, Supabase for hosting, database and file storage, Resend for email delivery, and Vercel for application hosting. These providers process information as necessary to provide their services.

5. Data retention and deletion

You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Danger zone, which permanently removes your banked words, upload history, quiz history and account information. Practice rooms you created are also deleted, which removes them for other members.

Practice Room chat messages are automatically deleted after 24 hours. Beyond that, certain information may need to be retained for security, legal or legitimate operational purposes.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no online service can guarantee absolute security.

7. Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights concerning access to, correction of, deletion of, or other control over your personal information.

8. Children

WordBank may be used by school-age players, often under the guidance of a coach or Practice Room administrator. Where required, appropriate consent and privacy protections will apply to younger users.

9. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy when our services or data practices change. The current version and effective date will always be displayed on this page.
